Navya!

May 19, 2008

Thanks to the FOSS event @ Shaastra 2008, I started hanging out @ #fosskriti on Freenode. [Thanks to bheekling for the introduction]. While I knew that IITK had a strong technical group [heard from devilsadvocate on #kde-in], I didn’t know they were this good. Really, it’s a one of a kind organization:

[Thanks to rohitj for showing us around]

I think the IITM student community should take inspiration from them. Unfortunately, I’ve got a hectic semester ahead, so I can’t be involved next semester. I hope it happens by then, though.

Navya is just amazing. Some how, we have to 1-up them. We MUST kick their ass, and kick it good! This means WAR!!!

IMO, it shouldn’t be thought of as ‘kicking ass’, but rather as a very healthy collaboration. The IITK guys were really very helpful (Thank you folks, if you are reading this) and I think we should be dropping the idea of RG and competition.

If you do notice, Navya has a lot of contribs from Mtech and MSc junta.

Can we get the same here?

I don’t know how enthusiastic our MSc / MTech junta are. I’ve heard of few FOSS enthusiasts – Abhishek Goda, Bharati Subramaniam (hope I spelled that right) and Anirudh Kasturi. Can’t think of anyone else! Maybe we just don’t know. If you know someone, we can pitch them in for sure.
